Click on the link below to see art work from across the school as part of our whole school project learning about the Windrush Generation.  Reception looked at photographs of the Caribbean landscape and made beautiful watercolour paintings. Years 1 and 2 considered the contrast between the landscape of the Caribbean and the landscape of Britain. Years 3 and 4 made landscape paintings and prints depicting the Windrush’s journey from Jamaica to Tilbury Docks in Essex, in 1948. Year 5 and 6 learned about the people who travelled on the Windrush – how they and their descendants have contributed to our culture and society in Britain. They include Sam Beaver King, the first black mayor of Southwark as well as essential workers within the NHS, postal and transport services.
