You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.

Maya Angelou

It has been a busy first week back with: meetings for parents; the start of engaging opera workshops for KS2; Y5 & Y6 Blues and Roots band workshops; a football tournament and the start of the girls’ and boys’ football leagues! We have also started our new approach to reading in KS2 which has already lifted the enjoyment of reading to another level.

Autumn 2 Christian Value – Service

Service is helping others who need assistance. Jesus didn’t come for others to serve Him, but to serve and help others. Our motivation for serving must come from a love for God and others and our desire to be more like Jesus.  We see examples of serving in the bible, such as when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet, John 13:2-5. This is an act of serving.  Serving isn’t something that we should dread doing; it should be something that brings us joy. We don’t have to wash feet as Jesus did to be serving.  Helping with and sharing practical tasks are ways that we can all serve one another. Serving is possibly one of the easiest of the disciplines to practise – if we have the right attitude about it.  There are always ways to serve and help others.

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’.

Sporting News

Earlier this week, a group of our super talented Y5/Y6 footballers played in the CSSA ‘Sports For All’ football tournament. The team played a total of 5 matches against various other Camden primary schools. They lost their first game 1-0 to Kings Cross Academy, drew 0-0 with Gospel Oak (A), won 1-0 against Gospel Oak (B), won 5-0 against St Mary’s and lost the final game 1-0 to Primrose Hill. The children had a fantastic time and cannot wait for next one, which will be in the spring term. We would like to give an honourable mention to Finley for his excellent goalkeeping skills and also to Charlie showing very good care, courage and co-operation throughout.

In other news, the CSSA Football League got off and running earlier this week. Our boys’ and girls’ teams had 3 fixtures to play. Our girls won 1-0 against St. Paul’s, won 3-1 against New End and also went on to win 2-1 against Kingsgate; our boys won 4-0 against St. Paul’s, won 1-0 against New End and lost 5-1 in their final game against Kingsgate. Aaron, Corey, Kady-Rose and Kimberly played exceptionally well on this occasion. We were extremely proud of all the children because they showed excellent care, courage and co-operation.

Attendance and Punctuality

We started the half term with an improvement in attendance to 96.3%. A particular well done to Y6 for 100% and Reception close by with 99.6%.
