We were delighted to welcome our first group to Reception class this week, they are starting to find their feet in their new environment. We have another group on Monday and the final children join us on Monday 23rd September. We know our current families will ensure that any new families joining us will be warmly welcomed to our school community.

Head Boy/Girl Team

Each year selecting our pupil leadership team becomes more challenging! The children are increasingly motivated to take on this role and to make a difference to our children’s experiences. While myself and Mr McIntyre undertook the interviews, all staff and Y5 & Y6 were involved in the decision making. Some of the children interviewed that will not be taking on this role, are already being identified for other leadership opportunities within the school.

We would like congratulate and welcome the following children to their roles as:

Head Girl Taylor
Head Boy Fred
Deputy Head Girl Iris
Deputy Head Boy Felix

Y6 created this collaborative piece of work last term with Ms Periton as part of their Arts Award. They were motivated by using something destructive (plastic lids) to create a symbol of nature. Pop up to the upstairs hall to enjoy it first hand.

Next Week

Class bands and one to one/group music lessons will begin from Monday. Class bands continue to be on Thursdays.

Clubs also begin next week. There are still a few places available for INFANT SCIENCE. Please contact the office this afternoon if you are interested.

We are going to try and merge CHINESE MANDARIN for Y2, Y3 & Y4 only, as there weren’t enough people to have separate key stage groups. Again, there are a few places left. Please contact the office by Monday noon if you are interested.

Secondary Transfer 2019

We had a very poor turn out for the ‘Meet the Parents’ evening this week but those that came found it very helpful. If you were just unable to make this meeting, there are other events at local primary schools that you could pop along to. These are very informal gatherings that help give parents a pupil/parent perspective of a secondary school. Go to their website for further information: https://meettheparents.info/latest-events/

Don’t forget the ‘Moving On’ event for families of children in Y5 & Y6 on 19th September at Swiss Cottage Library from 4 to 6.30pm.

Parents need to register for their free place on Eventbrite

Buy a book and donate to the school

The Book People have a great scheme that enables you to donate money for books to our school when buying books for yourself. If you go to the their website and follow the link to the ‘Big Book Boost,’ you can add us and the donation goes from there.

Christian Value

Koinonia (fellowship/community)

‘Ubuntu’ is a word used in parts of Africa that connects well with koinonia. It means ‘I am, because we are’. It is about the essence of being human and encompasses hospitality, caring about others and the willingness to go the extra mile for the sake of another. The belief is that how can anyone be happy, if others are sad.

We can’t have real friendship and fellowship with each other if we are not helping other people to find happiness. We need to be a community that works together for the good of others.

‘But God has combined the members of the body ….so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.’(1 Corinthians 12:24-26)
