As part of our learning about the Suffragettes, Year 2 have been exploring the meaning of democracy and what it means to vote.
This week we formed our own political parties and decided what we wanted to be called. We were then given a budget and a list of costings for different policies. We could chose to change Camden by building a new hospital, banning traffic down the high street, paying nurses more, giving free fruit to all or giving children a free iPad (amongst many other choices.) We had to be aware of our budget and what we thought people would vote for, as well as what we thought would be good for our community.
After presenting our campaigns, we voted secretly and place our ballot cards in the ballot box. The winning party was the Circle’s Rule party – well done for a successful campaign!
