To begin our half term we have been focusing on our geography knowledge. In the year 5 classroom in particular we have been doing so through the topic of mountain ranges.
To begin with we looked at the different features of mountain ranges, as well as how different types of mountains are formed. We all became experts on one particular type of mountain range and as a group researched and presented our finding back to the class. From our peers presentations we had to take notes which we used to help form our explanation text on how mountains are formed.
We also looked at the positive and negative impacts humans could have on mountain ranges. We categorised these impacts into social, environmental and economic effects. We then presented our information in a persuasive leaflet, picking a stance whether we thought humans should visit mountain ranges or not. Featured below are some of our leaflets.
