On Wednesday 19th – Friday 21st of June, Year 5 went to Walsingham. Father Graeme, Ms Dolan, Ms Hegarty and Ms Clayton also attended.
On the first day we visited the Shrine of Lady Walsingham, the Abby Ruins and walked the holy mile (some did it bare footed!) We attended a mass then participated in a torch procession around the shrine grounds.
On the second day we worked together to create a beautiful flower carpet of a host and chalice. We then attended another mass and walked in the procession through the town, either holding a shield or throwing petals on the floor to create a path. That afternoon we went to the beach and then had a bbq for dinner.
On the last day we looked around the shrine and completed a worksheet. We also went to the shop and bought gifts for our families, and Father Graeme kindly blessed them. We then made our way back to school.
