Exploring Everyday Materials
On Monday, we explored different everyday materials: glass, plastic, wood and metal and learnt our scientific vocabulary to describe our materials.
On Wednesday, we explored the different building materials in our classroom to make our own houses for The Three Little Pigs. We compared plastic and wood and had a debate into which was stronger.
On Thursday, we explored the properties of marshmallows and spaghetti and worked in teams to build the best possible house for The Three Little Pigs.
On Friday, we teamed up with Year 2 to conduct an experiment. The experiment was to find out which everyday materials would make the best paint. We recorded this on a sheet and made it a fair test by testing three different samples, then rated them out of 10 and made sure we used 2 spoonfuls of each ingredient.
