Year 2 have begun their topic on Everyday Materials and have been busy investigating material properties (with some germs thrown in.)

We started the week with a visit from the Crick Institute who ran a workshop all about viruses. We investigated how viruses spread through handshakes using glitter to mimic germs! We also used microscopes to explore the classroom.

In science we then did an experiment investigating the absorbency of different materials using different materials and water. We observed how they absorbed water over time and recorded our results in tables. We also planned and conducted an experiment where we explored how waterproof different materials are. We use pipettes and measuring beakers to help us investigate which materials would be best to make a raincoat.  I hope you also enjoy your ‘Walking Water’ experiment for homework.
