This week, Year 4 devised their very own subtraction word problems. Having closely examined and solved some word problems together, we noticed that word problems often contain ‘distracting details’, making it a greater challenge for us to pinpoint the information we need to solve the problem. With this in mind, Year 4 thought up some fantastic ‘distracting details’ to include in their imaginative word problems. We then switched with each other to solve one another’s challenges, making sure we highlighted the relevant information and ignored any decoy details!
