As part of our learning on classifying living things, Year 6 have been looking closely at bacteria and fungus. We braved a microorganisms carousel of delights such as mouldy bread, blue cheese, live yoghurt and a slightly weary-looking orange! At each station, we carefully observed and discussed the microorganisms we felt might be at work. We then made some tough decisions, evaluating whether we felt these microorganisms were working helpfully or harmfully and why. The toughest decision of all was bread: we knew that yeast would have helped the bread rise (helpful) but the mould that had grown since certainly complicated things!
