Year 1 went to the Jewish Museum in Camden to learn about Shabbat and gain hands-on experience through different activities, including challah bread making!
We started off the trip by exploring different items and objects that are used during the Shabbat meal. We understood how Shabbat, the day of rest, is linked to the creation story told in the Torah.

The next part of the day allowed Year 1 to try their hand at kneading and plaiting our own challah bread, before letting it bake.

We also listened to a story about the end of Shabbat and made our own Havdalah bags with sweet-smelling spices. We also explored the museum’s artefacts on display and looked for different objects within the museum.

Finally, Year 1 was able to taste some grape juice and try our challah bread!
