At Holy Trinity & S. Silas, we believe in the power of using art, drama and music to inspire, motivate and engage children in their learning.
‘The Arts are at the heart of your school. Everyone seems to take responsibility and ownership for driving the Arts and share good practice across a large number of settings, such as two of your teaching assistants leading workshops on costume design for support staff from eight London Boroughs. Pupils take ownership of the annual Shakespeare Project by designing sets, props, costumes, composing music and performing. There are many opportunities for children to engage in high quality learning, working with professionals’ – HTSS Artsmark Platinum Award, 2021
We have specialist teachers for art, drama and music who work with children and class teachers across the school, from Reception to Year 6. For example, every class has a weekly drama session with the drama specialist and their teacher. The drama lesson is not only about building children’s confidence, voice and dramatic skills but also for understanding challenging concepts and as a stimulus for further work.
