Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light.
Vera Nazarian

We enjoyed a most wonderful ‘World Book Day’ this week, as is clearly evident from the photos below! As a school that loves reading and prioritises teaching our children to read from the day they start with us, it was such a joy to see the children’s excitement taking part in the activities and workshops that had been organised throughout this week.

Ms Wainer, our new SENDco

We are delighted to welcome back Ms Wainer to the permanent role as SENDco in our school. Please note that her working days are: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Regular Donations

Thank you to PiP for organising a social event and a coffee morning for parents. The aim of these events was to alert parents to how they can make regular financial donations. The increased challenge of depleting school budgets means that we now rely on parental support, in order to continue working with specialists both through the arts and sports; both of which we know hugely impacts the flourishing and confidence of our children.

OPAL update

Here’s what happened when OPAL met World Book Day on Thursday!…

We were also very excited to unveil the first of our new small social spaces – the big green den! Children were eager to climb inside to chat, read a book or use their imaginations. Thank you very much to those who contributed to our OPAL fund, your generosity enabled us to purchase the den for the children.

If you are able to donate any amount towards our OPAL fund, big or small, please click here. Many thanks! We are currently fundraising for another small, social space.

Behaviour Tip: keeping yourself regulated

Every day your calm cuts through even the most irritating of behaviours. Do everything you can to turn up calm. Put a pebble in your pocket to remind yourself to stay calm in every interaction. Being ‘un-provokable,’ all day, every day is the strongest foundation possible for supporting others to manage their own behaviour.

Occasional Places

On occasion we have spaces in which to welcome new children and families to our school. You are the ones that know us best, so if you know of any family looking for a school place, please do advise them to contact the school office to find out if we have any places. They are also very welcome to visit.

Christian Vision

At the heart of our school are high expectations and depth in faith that inspire us to grow, flourish and work together to achieve our full potential. It is our intention that we all develop our fullest sense of self, both individually and collectively.

Toward love and good deeds.

Hebrews 10: 24

This week we reflected on a story that Jesus told about a young man who decided he no longer wanted to co-operate with his family. Having chosen to take his father’s money early, the son left home but before long had squandered all this money, leaving himself penniless and homeless. His only solution was to find a different kind of courage, which meant returning home and admitting his mistakes. This reminds us that the hardest part of any mistake is not the mistake itself, but finding the strength to turn around and head back in the right direction.

This story also shows us how the young man’s father displayed the ultimate act of care by hugging his son and welcoming him home with a massive celebration. For us, this is a powerful lesson that care is about forgiveness and showing people they are valued even when they have failed. It shows us that no matter how far we wander, there is always a way back to kindness.

Finally, the story challenges us to co-operate in one another’s happiness. When the older brother saw the party, he became jealous and refused to join in. The father reminded him that for a family to work, they needed to co-operate by being happy for each other and mending broken links. In our school, we stay strong when we choose to celebrate times of reflection and repair and continue to work together to make sure everyone feels they belong. It takes a whole team to turn a mistake into a new beginning.

Attendance and Punctuality

Our attendance continued to be a positive 98.2% this week.

The attendance bears go to Year 1 with 100% and Y3 with 100% – great job!

Well done to Y1 & Y3 for winning the early birds for punctuality.
