World Book Day!

You will have seen through communication via Arbor that next Thursday is World Book Day! A variety of events will be taking place across the school and week, including: author workshops; story-telling sessions; mystery readers; and book signings! Children are invited to dress up as one of their favourite book characters, or to bring in a copy of their favourite book. See the letter from Ms Arnison last week for some costume ideas! £1 donation will be taken on the gate and will go towards the cost of the events – many thanks in advance for your support.

Many thanks to PiP for organising a whole school book swap and costume swap, as detailed below:

Ms Wainer, our new SENDco

We are delighted to welcome back Ms Wainer to the permanent role as SENDco in our school. Please note that her working days are: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Regular Donations

Thank you to PiP for organising a social event and a coffee morning for parents. The aim of these events was to alert parents to how they can make regular financial donations. The increased challenge of depleting school budgets means that we now rely on parental support, in order to continue working with specialists both through the arts and sports; both of which we know hugely impacts the flourishing and confidence of our children.

OPAL update

Our Y6 OPAL leaders (Cian, Isla S, Maigan, Mimi and Zane) went with Ms Arnison to the first Rights Respecting School’s children’s steering group this week, to share the work we’ve been doing through OPAL. The children spent time exploring the articles of the UN Convention and Rights of the Child, including Article 31 and children’s right to play! They had a chance to meet children from other Camden schools, to play together and learn from each other. The Y6 OPAL leaders will be sharing what they learnt with the children in our next OPAL assembly in school.

If you are able to donate any amount towards our OPAL fund, big or small, please click here. Many thanks! We are very close to our target of £500 for some more social spaces in the playground – many thanks to those who have donated already.

Behaviour Tip: after-school ‘big feelings’

Does your child find it difficult to manage their emotions when they get home from school? If so, you are not alone. This is often called after-school restraint collapse and here are some ways you can support your child through this:

  • The Quiet 10: avoid asking lots of questions about their day immediately. Give them at least ten minutes of quiet time to decompress first.
  • Refuel: emotional regulation takes energy. Have a snack and a drink ready.
  • Connection First: if dysregulation happens, focus on being their “calm,” rather than joining their “storm.” A simple “I can see you’ve had a big day” can go a long way.

Art Competition – enter the Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer Show!

If your child has made an exceptional artwork that they are proud of, please do enter this very special opportunity. The deadline is Wednesday 4th March.

Last year, we were very proud of Sam R in Y6, whose collage was selected from thousands for the exhibition! More info can be found here: https://youngartists.royalacademy.org.uk/

Parents and carers can enter for their children online – please remember to name our school, as we are registered. Alternatively, children can bring their artwork to the art room and Ms Periton, our Art Specialist, will photograph and enter it on your behalf.

You must include the following information:

• Child’s name and age

• Title of the artwork

• A few sentences (written/dictated by your child) about why they made it.

Good luck!

Occasional Places

On occasion we have spaces in which to welcome new children and families to our school. You are the ones that know us best, so if you know of any family looking for a school place, please do advise them to contact the school office to find out if we have any places. They are also very welcome to visit.

Christian Vision

At the heart of our school are high expectations and depth in faith that inspire us to grow, flourish and work together to achieve our full potential. It is our intention that we all develop our fullest sense of self, both individually and collectively.

Toward love and good deeds.

Hebrews 10: 24

In Jesus’ time, having a skin disease called leprosy meant being invisible. People were forced to live outside the town, and if anyone got too close, they had to shout “Unclean!” to warn them away. This left those with leprosy in total isolation, cut off from their friends and families.

In the Bible we see Jesus show a genuine act of compassion when a man with leprosy has the courage to approach him for help. Instead of stepping back in fear like everyone else, Jesus shows radical care. He doesn’t just heal the man from a distance; he reaches out and actually touches him. For someone who had not felt a human hand in years, that touch was just as life-changing as the cure itself.

Jesus then tells the man to go to the priest to be officially welcomed back into his village. This shows the power of cooperation. The miracle was not just about fixing a disease; it was about working together to ensure the man was no longer an outcast. It reminds us that when we have the courage to care, we build a school where nobody has to feel invisible.

Attendance and Punctuality

Our attendance continued to be a positive 97.2% this week.

The attendance bears go to Year 2 with 99.7% and Y5 with 97.8%!

Well done to Y1 & Y3 for winning the early birds for punctuality.

It allows young people and their parents or carers to search for, filter and share resources based on their needs and preferences.

You can visit the website here and try out the Support Hub resource navigation feature here.
