Welcome back to the last half term of the year and what an exciting few weeks we have ahead:

Next week our lovely Year 6 head off on their residential trip – a cherished rite of passage that builds independence and creates memories that last a lifetime. The excitement continues the following week as Year 5 head off on their own shorter residential to Walsingham, bringing their learning about pilgrimage to life. Meanwhile, teachers of other classes are busy planning further day trips and activities for this term, all designed to celebrate cohort unity and strengthen friendships before the children take their next steps.

There are two important school community events this term that we look forward to enjoying with families – ‘Sports Day’ and the ‘Summer Fair’. Please look out for details from teachers, the school office and PiP!

Finally, our term will conclude with a vibrant celebration of creativity and the arts through our ‘Winter’s Tale’ performances (see dates below) and the Camden Biennale—a collective exhibition featuring artwork from all Camden schools. Representing our school will be an array of drawings and paintings, a collaborative collage, textile pieces, examples of our Key Stage 2 sketchbooks, and papier-mâché bird sculptures. While we are arranging class visits to the exhibition, it really is a fantastic event for the whole family. As it runs into the summer holidays, we highly recommend visiting with your children if you get the chance.

Sports News

Earlier this week, 24 pupils from Years 3 and 4 represented the school at a QuadKids Athletics competition, competing against nine other schools in a fantastic day of events. Each athlete took part in four challenging events: a sprint, 400m run, vortex throw and long jump. Throughout the competition, our pupils demonstrated excellent courage, teamwork and resilience, giving their very best in every event.

We are delighted to share that our Year 3 team finished in 1st place overall, while our Year 4 team secured an impressive 3rd-place finish. A huge congratulations goes to Luka in Year 3, who achieved the highest individual score of all the Year 3 boys with an outstanding 187 points, earning himself a well-deserved gold medal, and also a huge well done to Nico, who finished 3rd place overall with an outstanding 178 points.

Special recognition must also go to Simina (Year 3) and Tate (Year 4), who were excellent ambassadors for the school. Their outstanding effort, positive attitude and exemplary sportsmanship were noticed throughout the event. We are incredibly proud of every member of the team. They represented the school brilliantly and should all be proud of their achievements.

Air Conditioning Update

We know that everyone is very keen to get the Air Con installed as the weather begins to warm up, and that the children have been waiting for a long time for this. Having first been delayed by being advised we needed special sound-reducing covers and needing to source those, we’ve hit a further obstacle with Camden Council who have refused our planning application (on the grounds that on a listed building the covers should not be metal but a more ‘sensitive’ material). This is extremely frustrating and we can only apologise; PiP and the school are doing all we can to challenge and expedite this. Unfortunately though it now looks unlikely that we will be able to install the Air Con this term. Please be assured that the system will be installed just as soon as we have resolved these issues. We will update you when we have more (hopefully better!) news to share.

Christian Vision
At the heart of our school are high expectations and depth in faith that inspire us to grow, flourish and work together to achieve our full potential. It is our intention that we all develop our fullest sense of self, both individually and collectively.

Toward love and good deeds
Hebrews 10: 24

We began this half term focus on the saints by thinking about Peter. In the Gospels, we hear how Jesus gave his friend Simon a new name: Peter, meaning ‘the rock,’ because Jesus had a special role for him. Jesus chose Peter to be the foundation of the early Church, because of his resilience, his faith, and his willingness to grow. This story reminds us that true strength is not about being flawless; it is about how we support one another and respond to challenges.

As a school community, we are also building a solid foundation for our children every day. We do this by weaving the values of care, courage, and co-operation into the tapestry of school life. Just as Peter found the strength to step out of his comfort zone and face unfamiliar challenges, our children demonstrate courage when they tackle difficult work, stand up for what is right, and persevere through setbacks. Peter did not undertake his mission alone; he relied on the power of co-operation, working closely with others to achieve a shared purpose. In the same way, our school thrives when we work as a team, sharing our strengths and supporting one another in our learning and play.

At the heart of all of this is the call to care. When Jesus tasked Peter with looking after his community, he was asking for a foundation built on love and service. We practice this daily by showing genuine care to those around us, noticing when someone is in need, and ensuring our school remains a welcoming place for everyone.

By grounding ourselves in these core principles, we ensure that our school community remains strong, resilient, and united, capable of weathering any challenge together.

Behaviour Tip: separating the behaviour from the child

When you speak to children about their behaviour, correct their behaviour and don’t criticise their character. Labels can be really unhelpful, as is bring up other behaviours from the past. “I love you, I don’t like this behaviour,” is a useful mantra.

Occasional Places

On occasion we have spaces in which to welcome new children and families to our school. You are the ones that know us best, so if you know of any family looking for a school place, please do advise them to contact the school office to find out if we have any places. They are also very welcome to visit.

Attendance and Punctuality

Our attendance this week was a positive 97%, a strong start to the new half term.

Congratulations to the following classes who had the best attendance this week: Y1 and Y5.

The Early Birds this week also go to Y1 and Y5!
