Swimming Gala

Last Friday, we took 20 pupils from Years 3–6 to take part in a fantastic swimming competition. Every child competed in both an individual race and a relay event, and they all represented the school brilliantly throughout the day. The team showed excellent speed, teamwork and courage in every race, making us all incredibly proud.

A special mention goes to Mary for winning a gold medal in her front crawl race — a fantastic achievement! We would also like to congratulate Iris and Nico, who took part in their very first swimming competition and showed great determination and confidence.

Well done to everyone involved!

CERAMICS PROJECT – WEEK 1

We were very excited to welcome Pedro Kalache into school this week for the start of our ceramics project! Pedro will be working with all children to help us create a permanent artwork for our playground, on the theme of PLAY! Year 5 and Year 4 had a fantastic first session with Pedro on Tuesday during their normal art lesson – the focus was on exploring clay and thinking about how we can be playful in Art. Year 2 have their first session on Friday and all classes are scheduled to take part this term. We are asking for donations to support this project – if you haven’t yet donated please do so via Arbor, under the clubs section. Thank you for your support in helping us to bring great creative opportunities to our children! Ms Periton

Christian Vision
At the heart of our school are high expectations and depth in faith that inspire us to grow, flourish and work together to achieve our full potential. It is our intention that we all develop our fullest sense of self, both individually and collectively.

Toward love and good deeds
Hebrews 10: 24

This week our collective worship focus was on having the courage to distinguish between a “want” and a true “need.” It is important for us to remember that our wants are often fleeting, our true needs—love, purpose, and faith—are what sustain us. By deepening this understanding, we empower our children to stand firm in their own identity rather than following the crowd.

This focus allows us to extend our care beyond ourselves and toward the needs of others. Through co-operation, we learn that we are a body of many parts, each responsible for supporting one another. When we are able to see beyond ourselves, we find the space to ask how we can help one another. It is this response to the needs of others, that show our children how true fulfilment comes from what we give, not just what we receive.

We hold high expectations for the children in our care, challenging them to seek the better choices in all they do. As a school that focuses on spiritual and character growth, we set a standard that far exceeds material success. When we prioritise these essential needs, we provide the fertile soil necessary for every child to flourish. Reflecting the care God has for each of us, our school remains a place where children grow deep roots in faith and grace, flourishing into the people they were created to be.

OPAL update

In this week’s OPAL assemblies, we spoke with the children about how to keep our playground looking clean and tidy; the children shared some good ideas about how to keep it litter free. We also spoke about ways to resolve disagreements with others in a productive way. Children got creative in the small playground when we re-introduced ground chalk to the space; and the arts and crafts area was busy all week with some new activities and resources. If you are interested in reading more about our approach to play, you can access our play policy here.

We are currently collecting the following items for OPAL for our new wheels track! Please place any donations in or next to the blue OPAL bin outside the church hall.

  • Scooters (in good condition) – all sizes
  • Tricycles / bikes
  • Pushchairs/buggies

If you are able to donate any amount towards our OPAL fund, big or small, please click here. Many thanks! We met our target for the small green den and plan to add this to our playground offer within the next couple of weeks. Thank you to all who were able to donate to the fund!

The Holy Trinity Way

Behaviour Tip: Modelling emotional regulation

By ‘thinking out loud’ our feelings and the healthy ways we handle them, we provide our children with a model for managing their own big emotions. It shows them that, while all feelings are natural, we have the power to choose how we respond to them e.g.

  • “I’m feeling a bit frustrated because I can’t find my keys, so I’m going to take three slow breaths before I keep looking.”
  • “I’m sorry I just snapped at you; I was feeling frustrated and I let my big feelings take over. Let’s take a deep breath together and try that conversation again.”

Occasional Places

On occasion we have spaces in which to welcome new children and families to our school. You are the ones that know us best, so if you know of any family looking for a school place, please do advise them to contact the school office to find out if we have any places. They are also very welcome to visit.

Attendance and Punctuality

Our attendance continued to be positive was 96.8% this week.

Congratulations to the following classes who had the best attendance this week: Y2 with an excellent 100% and Y4 with 99.2%! Well done Y2 and Y4!

The Early Birds go to Y1 and Y5 this week.
