Care, Courage & Co-operation

As we reach the halfway point of the spring term, as ever it has been both busy and productive! It has been wonderful to see that even at the darkest time of the year, the children lighten us all with their care, courage and co-operation both for themselves and for one another. We thank parents/carers for their continued support and care for our school. We very much look forward to some exciting whole-school creative projects next half term including:

  • Art-A-Thon – Tuesday 25th February – Non Uniform Day £2 donation. It will be a very productive day which will include: Drop everything and Draw moments; Collaborative all-day art in the hall; Postcard art creation in class
  • Week long workshops with a visiting sculptor, Darrell Wakelam
  • Something for the adults – Sip & Sketch with Ms Periton – 25th February 7.00-8.30pm

This year we will be taking part in Neurodiversity Celebration Week from 17th-23rd March. Children will learn about neurodiversity and inclusion in an age-appropriate way, taking part fun and engaging activities. There will be displays in the upper and lower halls, featuring books and information posters. Classes will also be gifted with a range of fiction and non-fiction books celebrating and explaining neurodiversity in a child-friendly and accessible way, to add to class book corners.

We would really like to have some neuro-divergent speakers come and talk to the children too. If you know anyone who you think would inspire our children, or indeed if you are neuro-divergent yourself and would like to share your story with a class, please contact our Assistant Head/SENDCO Kate Arnison by Friday 28th February at k.arnison@holytrinitynw1.camden.sch.uk.

You can find out more about Neurodiversity Celebration Week and the resources we will be using on their website: https://www.neurodiversityweek.com/introduction

Attendance and Punctuality

Once again, our attendance has remained at 96% this week which is positive. That said, 97% is our school standard and, as we often explain, strong attendance ensures that as many children as possible are growing in confidence and flourishing in their learning.

The attendance bears this week go to Year 2 with 97.2% and Year 6 with 96.3%. The early birds went to Year 2 and Year 6.

Christian Vision

Strong in our faith in God, let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, by encouraging one another.

Hebrews 10:23-25

A significant event in the life of Jesus was the 40 days and nights he spent in the desert. In this time of preparation for his ministry, he was alone, hungry and tempted by the devil three times.

First the devil encouraged him to use his power for himself by turning stones into bread but instead he said, “People don’t live just by eating; they need God’s words too.” Next, he tempted Jesus to throw himself from the highest point of the temple and order angels to catch him. Jesus knew he shouldn’t test God. He said, “Don’t test the Lord your God.” Finally, the devil offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in return for worshipping him. Jesus replied, “Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!”

Jesus resisted all the temptations. He used scripture to answer the devil’s challenges he and trusted God. This story shows us that everyone is tempted, even Jesus. It also reminds us that when we’re tempted, we can turn to God and to his Word for help. He will give us the strength to do what is right, just like he did for Jesus.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

New Emotional Wellbeing Website for Young People and Families

A new NHS website, packed with emotional wellbeing and mental health information and resources, has been launched to help young people and families, as well as professionals working with them, to navigate support options.

NCL Waiting Room was produced with the help and input of young people, families and professionals. It aims to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on specialist mental health services, community groups, emotional wellbeing and self-care resources.

It allows young people and their parents or carers to search for, filter and share resources based on their needs and preferences.

NCL Waiting Room will continue to grow and develop, so watch this space for more details. You can visit the website here and try out the Support Hub resource navigation feature here.

If you have any feedback on the website, you can do this on the relevant pages of the site, or email rtown@tavi-port.nhs.uk
