The Week at a Glance
It has been a week that has seen some classes out on educational visits to inspire their learning. Y5 visited a gurdwara, a place where Sikhs come together, pray and share their religion with others. The children learnt about the teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scripture and enjoyed langar – a free vegetarian meal. Y1 had a delightful trip to the Paddington Experience which was linked to their class book.
Conversely, our lovely Y6 children sat the KS2 statutory assessments (SATs). As ever, they knew that this was a chance to celebrate their learning journey through our school and, as ever, their attitude and resilience was brilliant.

Christian Vision
Toward love and good deeds
At the heart of our school are high expectations and depth in faith that inspire us to grow, flourish and work together to achieve our full potential. It is our intention that we all develop our fullest sense of self, both individually and collectively.
Hebrews 10: 24

We continued to reflect on the ‘Our Father’ prayer this week focusing on the lines: “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.” To trespass means to wander off the right path or to overstep a boundary in our relationships. This is something that we all do, be it a cross word spoken in haste, a moment of selfishness, or a time when we forget to show care. The Lord’s Prayer is the reminder to us that we are never left off the path for long and that we can make a fresh start.
The Parable of the Prodigal Son serves as a wonderful illustration of how we sometimes lose our way because of our choices. In this story, we hear of a young son who left home and made mistakes, only to be welcomed back with open arms by a father who didn’t wait for him to be perfect before celebrating his return. Through this parable, our children learn that forgiveness goes far beyond just getting into trouble; it is about the healing joy of being brought back into the warmth of community and God’s love.
Living out this forgiveness requires us to lean into our school values of care, courage, and co-operation. It takes great courage to admit when we are wrong and even more to accept an apology when our feelings are hurt. Like the son in the parable, we must have the courage to say sorry. At the same time, forgiveness is the ultimate act of care. it tells our friends and family that our relationship is far more important than the mistake that was made.
We know that a positive school environment relies on co-operation. We must work together to resolve challenge and conflict and ensure a fresh start each day. The Our Father reminds us that to live in harmony, we must actively practice forgiveness, ensuring everyone feels valued and included.
OPAL update
A wet week for OPAL, ending with a sunny, dry day today! The changeable weather didn’t deter our children from lots of creative play… many a den was built; relationships fostered across the school; and extra muddy concoctions created in the increasingly popular mud kitchen!
If you are interested in reading more about our approach to play, you can access our play policy here.

We are currently collecting the following items for OPAL for our new wheels track! Please place any donations in or next to the blue OPAL bin outside the church hall.
- Scooters (in good condition) – all sizes
- Tricycles / bikes
- Pushchairs/buggies
If you are able to donate any amount towards our OPAL fund, big or small, please click here. Many thanks! We met our target for the small green den and plan to add this to our playground offer within the next couple of weeks. Thank you to all who were able to donate to the fund!

Behaviour Tip: avoid homework battles
When children refuse to do homework, it is usually a sign of anxiety, fatigue, or fear of failure—not just ‘bad behaviour.’ Responding with pressure often sparks arguments. Try these quick relational strategies to shift the dynamic from friction to co-operation:
- Connect before tasking: spend 10 minutes chatting or playing before mentioning schoolwork.
- Offer controlled choices: “Do you want to do it at the kitchen table or in your room?”
- Acknowledge the reluctance: “I know you’re tired and would rather play. I understand.” Joint plan a post-homework positive activity, like a bike ride, story or board game, immediately after.
- Establish a ‘we’ mentality if support to access is needed: sit side-by-side and say, “Let’s tackle this one together.”
Parenting support

Brandon Centre’s ADHD Parenting Support Programme will be holding there next virtual ADHD Parenting Support Programme in June 2026. This programme is open to parents and carers in Camden who have children aged 5–12 years.

Beginner-friendly cycle track opens in Camden
A brand new, free-to-use cycle track has been built in Harrington Square Gardens, near Mornington Crescent, NW1, and the Council is hosting an opening event on Saturday 30 May, from 10am to 1pm.
The new cycling facility comprises a fun circuit that proves you don’t need a huge area to build a top quality, professional-grade track. Riders can complete numerous short, sharp laps, while also developing their basic cycling skills.
The new cycle track has been designed mainly for primary-aged children. It’s very beginner-friendly and the opening event on Saturday 30 May, to which all are welcome, will be a great chance to celebrate this new facility. If you have any questions, please email Camden’s Green Space Project Officer, jon.badger@camden.gov.uk
