What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?”  Vincent Van Gogh

We are delighted to share the wonderful news that Mrs Evans has given birth to a baby boy, Frederick. Both mother and baby are well and we look forward to a visit in the not too distant future!

Open Classrooms – Thursday 17th October

We look forward to welcoming parents/carers into school so that children can share their learning. Look out for details in class newsletters.

Smartphone Free Childhood

Parents/carers may well be aware of the drive not to give children smartphones until they are of an age when they have the emotional and social ability to interact with others through this medium. As a school and as educators, we fully support this campaign. Please click here to read the letter about smartphone free childhoods.

Whole school Flu Immunisation

A reminder that next Monday 30th September, the NHS Camden Immunisation team are visiting school to immunise our children against the common flu, ahead of the upcoming cold and flu season. Please remember to give your consent, as the nurses cannot give the nasal immunisation spray without your permission: click here for more information and to give permission.

Attendance and Punctuality

The whole school attendance this week was 96.7%.

Well done to Reception for 98.7% attendance and to Y3 for 98% attendance.

The early birds went to Reception and Y5

Please can we remind parents/carers of the importance of arriving to school on time so that children have the opportunity to settle into the day.

Christian Vision

Strong in our faith in God, let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, by encouraging one another.

Hebrews 10:23-25

This week we learnt about the time God sent the plagues to Egypt when, until the tenth plague, pharaoh refused to let the Israelites go. We also saw how during their escape from Egypt, God saved them using water; He parted the Red Sea so that they could walk across safely. This is an example of what Christians call God’s providence.  The word ‘providence’ is linked to the word ‘provide’ and comes from the Latin “providēre” (pro-vid-air-ay) which combines “pro-” (meaning “before”) and “vidēre” (meaning “to see”).  So it means God already knows what we need and will provide it for us; he will organise events so that we are cared for and saved.

This links us to the Lord’s prayer in which say, ‘Give us this day our daily bread’ – we’re saying, ‘Provide us with the things you know we need.’  This is often not the same as what we want – the Israelites wanted to go back to being enslaved rather than dying in the desert, but God instead provided what they needed – a way to cross the sea and escape. God shows his care for us by providing what we need to be saved.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

New Emotional Wellbeing Website for Young People and Families

A new NHS website, packed with emotional wellbeing and mental health information and resources, has been launched to help young people and families, as well as professionals working with them, to navigate support options.

NCL Waiting Room was produced with the help and input of young people, families and professionals. It aims to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on specialist mental health services, community groups, emotional wellbeing and self-care resources.

It allows young people and their parents or carers to search for, filter and share resources based on their needs and preferences.

NCL Waiting Room will continue to grow and develop, so watch this space for more details. You can visit the website here and try out the Support Hub resource navigation feature here.

If you have any feedback on the website, you can do this on the relevant pages of the site, or email rtown@tavi-port.nhs.uk
