Wonderful walking

In order to support our children to move safely around the school building, we have introduced a whole school routine and language of ‘wonderful walking.’ Wonderful walking means walking tall and proud, at a steady pace with eyes forward and voices off. It supports transitions to and from class to be safe and calm, especially on the stairs. Research shows that naming the behaviour we want to see supports all children and is more inclusive, i.e. ‘wonderful walking’ is a more effective reminder than saying ‘no running.’

Staff are all positively noticing children who are doing ‘wonderful walking’ around school; some of the older children are even supporting the younger ones! Please feel free to join in and positively notice our wonderful walkers, so as to support us whilst we embed this whole school visible consistency.

Infant Nativity & Junior Musical

Tickets for our wonderful Christmas shows will be on sale next Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th December before and after school.

Primary Shakespeare Company Gala

Our super Y6 class represented the school this week at Mercers’ Hall, in support of a fundraising event for the Primary Shakespeare Company, along with some well known celebrities! This charity was founded here at Holy Trinity and now works with over 50 London schools as well as a number of special schools. Their work inspires children and school staff into seeing the incredible impact of making Shakespeare’s plays accessible, but also teaches how to bring learning alive through drama. The company works tirelessly to fund its work with schools, but it is a constant challenge. If any parents are interested in finding out more or are able to make a donation to this charity, click on this link: primaryshakespearecompany.org

Christian Vision

Strong in our faith in God, let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, by encouraging one another.

Hebrews 10:23-25

In collective worship this week, we have been thinking about the people that prepared the way for Jesus, one of whom was John the Baptist. We know that God sent the Angel Gabriel to Mary, to tell her that she was going to have God’s son. God also sent Gabriel to her cousin, Elizabeth, to tell her that, in spite of her old age, she too was to have a child called John and that he would prepare the way for Jesus.

Throughout his life, John knew that his mission was to prepare people’s hearts to receive Jesus, so that he could walk among them and live with them. He preached the importance of opening one’s heart and repenting of our errors, by asking for forgiveness from God and from those that have been wronged. This act of repentance is an acknowledgment of the need to change one’s actions which, in turn, will change our course and our future actions. This is what leads to the kind of heart that we should all strive to have.

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:8

Weekly collective worship

Our class-led collective worship will take place every Friday at 2.55pm in the church hall. Parents/carers are warmly invited to attend their child’s class-led collective worship; the dates for these are shown below.

New Emotional Wellbeing Website for Young People and Families

A new NHS website, packed with emotional wellbeing and mental health information and resources, has been launched to help young people and families, as well as professionals working with them, to navigate support options.

NCL Waiting Room was produced with the help and input of young people, families and professionals. It aims to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on specialist mental health services, community groups, emotional wellbeing and self-care resources.

It allows young people and their parents or carers to search for, filter and share resources based on their needs and preferences.

NCL Waiting Room will continue to grow and develop, so watch this space for more details. You can visit the website here and try out the Support Hub resource navigation feature here.

If you have any feedback on the website, you can do this on the relevant pages of the site, or email rtown@tavi-port.nhs.uk
