1963 March on Washington!
We learnt about the March on Washington for the civil rights in 1963. We pretended we were there by creating protest signs and acting out the events on that day including Martin Luther King’s speech. We pretended to be newspaper journalists and wrote notes about what we heard, what we saw and how we felt.

With Mr Williams in drama into writing, we focused on how the protesters felt being in Washington in 1963 … We thought about that exciting journey to the protests and about the suspense and overwhelming feeling of togetherness that must of felt. We all sang ‘We will overcome’ as a class to think about this togetherness.
