Year 6 were lucky enough to get tickets to see the Bayeux Tapestry when it was here in London, at the British Museum.

Unfortunately we were unable to take photographs whilst inside the exhibit, which contained the full length of the 70m long tapestry.
Year 6 spent their time carefully examining the piece, exploring the story of William the Conqueror and the events that led up to it. We drew on our Latin skills when reading some of the words, such as ‘Rex’ – which means ‘king’, as well as spotting important figures and key moments such as when the arrow pierced King Harold’s eye.

We had a great time experiencing such a valuable part of English history, and enjoyed reading Ms Sun’s copy of the Bayeux Tapestry graphic novel once we returned to school.
