At the start of this half term, Year 6 learnt about the importance of Remembrance Day and why people observe it.

We led a Collective Worship informing our audience about this date, and the significance of wearing poppies. We explained how the flower came to be a symbol of remembrance and hope, and why many people choose to wear it now. Year 6 learnt the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae, and even created our own stanzas inspired by ‘There Will Come Soft Rains’ by American poet Sara Teasdale.

Finally, we also created some artwork to mark this important date.
