This week, Year 4 have started exploring our new class text, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. The story follows Edward, a china rabbit who begins his life feeling proud and self-important, but after being lost and passed between different people, he learns about love, loss, and what truly matters.
To deepen our understanding, Year 4 have been reading aloud to a partner and practising a range of reading comprehension strategies each week. These include predicting, inferring, summarising, and asking thoughtful questions about the text. The children are already showing fantastic engagement and enthusiasm as we get to know Edward’s journey together.
