A good heart is the sun and the moon or, rather, the sun and not the moon, for it shines bright and never changes.

William Shakespeare, Henry V

I imagine that most families are now aware of the fact that I was married to my long term partner by Fr Graeme last weekend, with a very small family gathering in attendance. I must admit that I have been completely blown away by the care and happiness that everyone has shown me following this news – it has been my greatest gift and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. My apologies that you will have to get used to me as Mrs Goll but rest assured, I will always be equally happy to be Ms Dolan for those who find the change too hard to adapt to! As promised, I have shared some pictures below.

We are delighted to have been awarded with the School Games Mark gold award this year. The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme that rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

The school had only previously achieved the silver award but thanks to the continued hard work and commitment of Coach Steve and his apprentice Coach Kadie, we reached gold. It’s on to platinum next!

Christian Value of Wisdom

Wisdom is the most important gift we are given by God. In the Bible we hear how Solomon was called by God to do a big job at a young age. He knew that he needed help in knowing how to be a good King and take good care of the kingdom. Solomon could have asked God for money or material possessions but instead, he asked God for wisdom. He asked God for understanding and help in knowing right and wrong. As Solomon asked for this very important gift, God blessed him with it and with continued to bless him as a successful and prosperous king.

This story teaches us that wisdom and understanding are the most important gifts God can give us. When we face a situation we are not sure how to navigate, he is ready and willing to give us the gift of wisdom to help us through.

The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.”

On Monday 10th July and Monday 17th July from 12:15 to 14:15, the MHST are holding a two-part, in person workshop at the Tavistock Centre on Emotion Coaching. This is a parenting approach that explores steps to support identifying a child’s emotions, validating their feelings and setting boundaries and limits around children’s behaviour. It is hoped that this workshop will provide a space where parents and carers can come together to hear about Emotion Coaching but also to learn from one another and to share their experiences.
