Aesop

Thank you to PiP for organising a lovely Spring Fair – even the chilly spring weather did not dampen the fun!

We were very impressed with our Y6 children this week for using the national tests as an opportunity to show off all that they know. As ever, our priority is to ensure that the children do not feel the external pressure that can often come with statutory tests and instead simply feel motivated to give of their best. We know through our own ongoing assessments of all our pupils what the outcomes of these tests are likely to be and ultimately they are a reflection of the quality of education that the children receive at Holy Trinity & S. Silas School.

Next Tuesday we have the photographer here for the annual school photos – please remember that children will need to be in their school uniform. Reception, Y3 and any children that have clubs will need to come to school wearing their uniform but should bring their PE kit in their bags to change into.

Friday class assemblies this term will be a collective worship session lead by each class on the following dates. Thank you to Y5 who reminded us this week to trust that God will give us everything we need.

  • Friday 19th May – Y6
  • Friday 26th May – Y4
  • Friday 9th June – Y3
  • Friday 16th June – Y2
  • Friday 30th June – Y1

Christian Value of Compassion

In the Bible (Matthew 15:29-39) we hear of a story where Jesus is moved by compassion for the large crowd who have been with him for three days and have no food . Concerned about their wellbeing, Jesus stepped in and performed an incredible miracle – involving the disciples and members of the hungry crowd in the process. With just five loaves and a few fish to hand, thousands of people were miraculously fed in what has become one of the most famous stories of Jesus’ ministry. It is incredible to note how Jesus himself was ‘moved’ with compassion – this prompted him to act. If compassion was an important trait for Jesus, how much more so should it be for us? The Christian value of compassion is a characteristic that is important for us all. It is what moves us to respond with concern, sorrow, and love when people are suffering.
