Sciences provide an understanding of a universal experience, Arts are a universal understanding of a personal experience… they are both a part of us and a manifestation of the same thing… the arts and sciences are avatars of human creativity.

Mae Jemison, Engineer, Physician & NASA Astronaut

This week has been British Science Week and the theme has been ‘Time.’ While the children have enjoyed some additional activities including a talk from a parent and a science presentation, we are covering this theme across the whole half term. We look forward to visits from the Crick Institute at a later date.

Christian Vision

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, by encouraging one another.

Hebrews 10:24-25

This week we reflected on the story that marks the beginning of Easter week, Palm Sunday. Jesus was welcomed back to Jerusalem with a great parade; everyone was singing and shouting that Jesus was someone special, that he was the Son of God. They threw palm branches and cloaks on the ground to make a carpet for him, praising God for the amazing things they had seen him do.

Throughout his ministry, Jesus spurred people on and modelled sharing love and good deeds, which in turn showed them that he was very special. His actions however intended to show others that everyone is special and deserving of love and good deeds. This reminds us that we should never sit back and applaud others for the good that they do if we too are not able to do the same ourselves. Loving others is a shared responsibility and we must always encourage one another, in the knowledge of God’s unconditional love for us.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.

Attendance and Punctuality

This week our attendance remained at 96% which is pretty good although we can always do better so let’s continue to aim for at least a percentage more next week! We have had a few late arrivals this week and, while we appreciate there have been road works in the local area, we urge families to take this into account when planning the journey to school.

New Emotional Wellbeing Website for Young People and Families

A new NHS website, packed with emotional wellbeing and mental health information and resources, has been launched to help young people and families, as well as professionals working with them, to navigate support options.

NCL Waiting Room was produced with the help and input of young people, families and professionals. It aims to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on specialist mental health services, community groups, emotional wellbeing and self-care resources.

It allows young people and their parents or carers to search for, filter and share resources based on their needs and preferences.

NCL Waiting Room will continue to grow and develop, so watch this space for more details. You can visit the website here and try out the Support Hub resource navigation feature here.

If you have any feedback on the website, you can do this on the relevant pages of the site, or email rtown@tavi-port.nhs.uk
