The beginning is the most important part of the work.

We have loved having our full Reception class in for their first week together! They have all started really well and the older children have been very welcoming. Thank you to parents and carers for easing their transition so brilliantly.

We were also pleased this week to welcome back Ms Robertson, who teaches recorder to Y3 every Wednesday, and Mr Ashby and Mr Tong, who teach brass to Y4, Y5 and Y6 on Thursdays. Very soon Y3 and Y4 will be able to take their instruments home to practise. Please help the children remember to bring them to school on the relevant days.

We are delighted to share the news of the birth of Miss Woolway’s son and Mr Williams’ daughter. Both parents and babies are fit and well. We send them much love and good wishes.

Some parents may be aware or have seen that the school was used for an ITV drama which has recently been aired. Some families appeared in it, as well as Mr Williams and Coach Steve. It’s lovely to see how fantastic our school (and members of our community!) look on the screen. Below are some stills from the series, which is called The Suspect and is available now on ITV Hub.

Moving On to Secondary School in Camden event – 28th September

Camden’s Moving On event for parents of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils is taking place on Wednesday next week (28th September), from 4.00pm to 6.30pm, at Arlington House, Arlington Road, Camden Town NW1 7HE.

This is parents’ opportunity to:

  • Get advice on how to apply for a Year 7 secondary school place from Camden admissions team;
  • Find out what Camden secondary schools have to offer their children;
  • Speak with heads, students and staff from our secondary schools.

Parents/carers need to register on eventbrite.co.uk (search for ‘Camden Moving On’).

Parents of children in Y6, please arrange a meeting with me if you would like to discuss secondary transfer.

Autumn 1 Christian Value – Koinonia

As we continue to reflect on this half term’s Christian value of Koinonia, this week we have considered the two-way nature of the relationship between individuals and communities. In collective worship, the children learnt about Moses and the burning bush, when God spoke to Moses and tasked him with leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. Rather than feeling proud of being chosen for such a great purpose, Moses initially felt unworthy and incapable, partly because of his shortcomings as a speaker. God reassured him by telling him that his brother, Aaron, would speak for him. Of the many lessons this story has to teach us, one is that God is aware not only of what we must do for others, but also of our need for support from others. The Israelites needed Moses, but he was not equal to the task on his own; he needed others in return. The demands we place on ourselves in terms of what we must do for others can often feel overwhelming, so it is important that we remember to ask others for support too, and that we are not alone. As our school’s Christian verse reminds us, we can work together to spur on and encourage each other toward love and good deeds.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.

Attendance and Punctuality

This week our school attendance has dropped to 94% as quite a few children have been off with coughs and colds. We aim to improve on this next week!
