We welcomed some of our new Reception class to school this week with the remainder starting on Monday. We know that our parent community will also warmly welcome any families that are new to the school.
There are three events next week on the same day that may need clarifying. On Tuesday 17th September there will be a uniform sale. Pre-loved items of school uniform will be available for a small donation. This will take place in the playground at drop-off and pick-up times on the Tuesday.
On the same day at 3.30pm, parents are invited to ‘Meet the Teacher‘ in children’s classrooms. These will be short, informal group meetings with class teachers where they can take you through some useful information on routines and learning throughout this academic year. They will be finished by 4.00pm at the latest. (The uniform sale will continue until 4.10pm, so you’ll still have a chance to buy uniform items after the Meet the Teacher meetings!)

Then at 6pm we have ‘Meet the Parents‘ in the church hall. This is open to the whole school for parents/carers that are thinking about where to send their child for secondary school. It is an invaluable opportunity to ask questions of a friendly panel of families currently at our local state secondary schools.
Schools represented will be Acland Burghley, Camden School for Girls, Haverstock, Parliament Hill and William Ellis. Parents from all year groups are welcome, as are older children. You can find our more and sign up to Meet the Parents at www.meettheparents.info.
Parents of Y6, please contact the school office if you would like to arrange a meeting with me to discuss secondary school options for your child.
Clubs and music lessons start from Monday 23rd September.
Attendance and Punctuality

We have had a positive start to the new year with a whole school attendance of 97.7%. Let’s keep it up!
Well done to Y1 and Y6 for a matched attendance of 98.6% – they will welcome our new bears to their classroom for next week.
Both classes will also welcome the early birds for being at school promptly each day.
Christian Vision
Strong in our faith in God, let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, by encouraging one another.
Hebrews 10:23-25

This week we reflected on the story of the Moses as a baby. At the time he was born Egypt had just had a new Pharaoh who was scared of the Israelites and so he tried to do all he could to stop them from growing in number, including ordering that all baby boys should be killed as soon as they are born.
As a result of this, Moses’ mother showed great courage by putting him in a basket in the River Nile, hoping that this in turn would save his life. This is exactly what happened. The Pharaoh’s daughter saved him and, thanks to the quick action of his sister, Moses was brought up by his own mother and was taught about God until he was old enough to go and live in the palace. Through this story, we also see how the princess showed great courage. She knew the baby was an Israelite boy who should have died, but she took him in anyway. Courage is so important in life, it is what makes us able to face new challenges and things that we can’t control. Let us also remember that we through our prayers we can also seek courage from God in all that we do and say.
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you.”
1 Chronicles 28:20

New Emotional Wellbeing Website for Young People and Families
A new NHS website, packed with emotional wellbeing and mental health information and resources, has been launched to help young people and families, as well as professionals working with them, to navigate support options.
NCL Waiting Room was produced with the help and input of young people, families and professionals. It aims to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on specialist mental health services, community groups, emotional wellbeing and self-care resources.
It allows young people and their parents or carers to search for, filter and share resources based on their needs and preferences.
NCL Waiting Room will continue to grow and develop, so watch this space for more details. You can visit the website here and try out the Support Hub resource navigation feature here.
If you have any feedback on the website, you can do this on the relevant pages of the site, or email rtown@tavi-port.nhs.uk
