Sports Day Fun!

Our Sports Day was a fantastic celebration of sport, teamwork and determination, with pupils from across the whole school enjoying a day filled with fun, enthusiasm and achievement.

Throughout the day, children participated in a variety of athletic events, including running races, relay races, throwing activities and jumping events. Pupils demonstrated excellent effort and perseverance, encouraging one another and showing great sportsmanship regardless of the outcome. It was wonderful to see so many children challenging themselves, striving for personal bests and celebrating the successes of their classmates.

The atmosphere throughout the event was fantastic, with pupils proudly representing their colour teams and cheering each other on from the sidelines. The support shown by our families and school community helped to create a memorable occasion and contributed to the positive spirit of the day.

A huge congratulations must go to all of our pupils for their outstanding participation, determination and behaviour. We would also like to thank our staff and volunteers for their support in organising and running the event. Sports Day was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our values of care, courage and co-operation, and we are incredibly proud of all our children for making the day such a success.

Air Conditioning Update

We know that everyone is very keen to get the Air Con installed as the weather begins to warm up, and that the children have been waiting for a long time for this. Having first been delayed by being advised we needed special sound-reducing covers and needing to source those, we’ve hit a further obstacle with Camden Council who have refused our planning application (on the grounds that on a listed building the covers should not be metal but a more ‘sensitive’ material). This is extremely frustrating and we can only apologise; PiP and the school are doing all we can to challenge and expedite this. Unfortunately though it now looks unlikely that we will be able to install the Air Con this term. Please be assured that the system will be installed just as soon as we have resolved these issues. We will update you when we have more (hopefully better!) news to share.

Christian Vision
At the heart of our school are high expectations and depth in faith that inspire us to grow, flourish and work together to achieve our full potential. It is our intention that we all develop our fullest sense of self, both individually and collectively.

Toward love and good deeds
Hebrews 10: 24

This week, we have reflected on the story of St. Francis of Assisi. His life serves as a wonderful example for how we can nurture a happy, thriving school community today through our core school values of care, courage, and co-operation.

St. Francis is most famously remembered for his deep care for nature and every living thing, no matter how small. This value grows daily across our school, both in the classroom and across classes at OPAL lunchtime. We intend that our children show unconditional kindness to one another and have their part to play in helping to create a safe, warm environment where everyone feels valued and included.

It also takes great courage to live out these values; the bravery it takes to try again when a task is difficult, to stand up for what is right in the playground, or to be the first to offer a smile to someone who is feeling lonely. Facing new challenges with a brave heart helps our children build the resilience they need to step confidently into the future.

Finally, St. Francis knew that real change only happens through co-operation and community. True growth is always a team effort. When our children collaborate in the classroom, share their play, and support one another through setbacks, they learn that we are always stronger together. By helping our school community grow with care, facing the world with courage, and working in co-operation, we ensure that every single child can truly grow and flourish into the unique person they are meant to be.

OPAL update

Another week, another whole load of play! Shady spots were found; donut shops established; pieces of art created; and much much more! Coach Steve got involved in some OPAL play – can you spot him? Sports Day must have tired him out!

If you are interested in reading more about our approach to play, you can access our play policy here.

If you are able to donate any amount towards our OPAL fund, big or small, please click here. Many thanks! We met our target for the small green den and plan to add this to our playground offer within the next couple of weeks. Thank you to all who were able to donate to the fund!

Behaviour Tip: Proper Positive Noticing

Positive noticing is not just a series of random opportunities to praise. ‘Good boy/girl/job’ does not quite make the grade. Proper Positive Noticing is encouraging, targeted at what your child needs reinforcing, and specific. “I noticed you waited for your sister like I asked. You are really showing your patient side. I know I am going to see more and more of that.”

Occasional Places

On occasion we have spaces in which to welcome new children and families to our school. You are the ones that know us best, so if you know of any family looking for a school place, please do advise them to contact the school office to find out if we have any places. They are also very welcome to visit.

Attendance and Punctuality

Our attendance this week remains a positive 96.5%.

Congratulations to the following classes who had the best attendance this week: Y2 with 98.2% and Y3 with 97.3%.

The Early Birds this week went to Rec and Y4!
