Year 1 have been learning about what it is like to live in a dry climate this week. They explored countries near the equator on the map and learnt that in Mali, Africa some whole buildings are made from mud which bakes in the sun. Then then found out about Timbuktu – an ancient city in Mali where many buildings are made from mud. They recreated some of the famous Timbuktu manuscripts, writing facts about what they had learnt and decorating them with pictures too.
