Year 3 Trip to the Pantomime
Our Year 3 children recently enjoyed a magical trip to the Hackney Empire to watch the pantomime Dick Whittington and His Cat! The excitement was palpable as we boarded the coach, ready for an afternoon of laughter, music, and a touch of festive sparkle.
The pantomime was a spectacular performance filled with vibrant costumes, catchy songs, and hilarious jokes that had us all giggling in our seats. The children were enthralled by the adventures of Dick Whittington as he journeyed to London in search of fame and fortune, accompanied by his loyal and clever cat.
One of the highlights was the audience participation. Our Year 3s didn’t hesitate to cheer for the heroes and boo for the villains, their enthusiasm lighting up the theatre. They particularly loved the catchy call-and-response moments that had the whole audience involved.
The trip wasn’t just about having fun; it was also a great opportunity to link our learning to the arts. After the show, we discussed the storytelling techniques, the use of comedy, and how the actors brought their characters to life. It was inspiring to see how the children connected their own creativity with what they’d seen on stage.
A big thank you to the Hackney Empire for hosting us and to all the parents and carers who supported the trip. We returned to school with smiles on our faces and memories that will stay with us for a long time. Who knows? We might even have a few future pantomime stars in Year 3!
